If your European vacation includes a trip from London to Madrid, you will get there in style with the Trainhotel. Before we go into what the Trainhotel has to offer in the way of amenities, lets look at tickets and booking.

In the first place you will need to book two different trips, one from London to Paris, and the other from Paris to Barcelona, to realize a cheaper fare. To do this you will need to visit the raileurope website and book a fare on the Trainhotel from the UK to Paris and back, and another fare from Paris to Barcelona and back.
If you want to book a berth, you can leave 2nd class selected. If you select first class you will be able to book preferente or gran classe sleepers, or reclining seats. At first you will not see which option the fare is for, but you will see the price of the fare. To make your selection, select cheapest fare and "Choose My Place" will appear. When you click this a drop down menu with all of your options will appear. Make sure you book the correct type of sleeper.

If you are booking a 1st class sleeper, know that it will default back to reclining seats unless you click on the "Choose My Place" link and change the accommodations to Single Cabin, or Double Cabin- For Preferente. A Double cabin with a shower, or a Single cabin with a shower-For Gran Classe. When you are making 2nd class sleeper booking, be aware that the system will try to get you to upgrade from a comfortable sleeper to a 1st class reclining seat, that can be very uncomfortable. This will be an upgrade for no extra cost, most of the time. Tickets can be sent to any UK address from the raileurope website, and there is no fee for ordering on the site. You can book on the trainhotel up to 90 days before you want to leave.

The Trainhotel is run by a consortium of Spanish and French railways called Elipsos, is adapted from a Spanins 'Talgo, train and is fitted with adjustable axles. The train passes through a special shed, and the axles are adjusted from French standard to the Spanish track gauge.
