I am all for external hard drives and have quite a few of them to my name because I love to store everything on my PC and back it all up. With how cheap external hard drives are now you can get loads of space at minimal cost, which allows you to save vast amounts of data. If you have ever lost a file due to a computer crash then you will want to invest in a good external hard drive so you can backup your files, or if you download a lot of music, videos, and games then you could also use the extra space. If you want a cost effective hard drive with lots of space then the Western Digital Elements line is just right for you. It's a Western Digital hard drive so you know it will run forever!

For this product review I checked out three of the drives, the 250GB, 320GB, and massive 500GB drives. The Western Digital Elements line has impressed me finally price has met power; drive space vs. storage space here is amazing. If you buy the 500GB Western Digital Elements you get 1GB of space for 26 cents talk about a good deal!

Design

The Western Digital Elements drives are a pleasant looking drive in a silver (metal) elements casing with two rubber ends on each side. The drive is small not much bigger than your wallet measuring a miniscule 8 inches tall 1.5 inches thick and 5 inches wide. It has a USB 2.0 interface so transfers are relatively quick and seamless and the drive is plug-and-play in Windows XP. I like the way the drive looks its pretty cool looking, not as fancy as the WD Passport but still a pretty nice looking external drive.
