GSA, a leading organization consisting of the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS), the Public Building Service (PBS), and the Office of Congressional and Intergovernmental Affairs (OCIA), has leased a number of Saturn, energy efficient hybrid vehicles to various branches of the government and military in order to promote the use and funding for fuel-efficient economy cars beneficial to the environment and at reduced market prices.

The General Services Administration offers acquisition services and polities to the federal government and federal agencies in order to better serve the public. The influential organization has purchased 55 Saturn Aura Green Line hybrid sedans in order to bolster its line of fuel-efficient vehicles to benefit the public and the environment, and they are leasing 43 of these sedans to various branches of the government and military including the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, and Navy, and to the Departments of Energy, Transportation, Commerce, and Interior. The Environmental Protection Agency and National Space and Aeronautics Administration will receive some of the vehicles in order to promote a more fuel-efficient line of hybrid cars.

12 of these hybrid cars will stay the property of the GSA and will be used as promotional tools at demonstrations and for company use, as well as models for federal employees who may be interested in converting to the hybrid use. GSA has purchased- in addition to these 55 hybrid vehicles- more than 140,000 alternative fuel vehicles since 1991 for federal customers, and bolstered this number by purchasing 24,000 this year.
