The Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

I will admit that I had no interest in seeing this movie in the first place, however, my husband said it was one of two movies playing at the drive-in and I wanted to see the other one, so I relented.

Before going, I had to watch The Fantastic Four so I would have some idea of what was going on in this sequel. I was pleased to discover one of my favorite actresses was in both movies: Jessica Alba.

Jessica Alba is 26, from California. I know her from the television series, "Dark Angel" but she has a lot of other movies and television shows under her belt as well, including, "Sin City" and "Into The Blue". Her presence as Susan Storm/Richards/The Invisible Woman made the Fantastic Four movies so much more enjoyable!

Ioan Gruffudd played the part of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. He is 33, from Wales. He is best known as Horatio Hornblower in the "Hornblower" (made for television) movie series. Among his many big screen movies are: "Wide", "Titanic", "Amazing Grace", "102 Dalmatians", and he played Lancelot in "King Arthur".

The movie starts with these two getting married, but all does not go as planned. The arrival of The Silver Surfer causes quite a stir. Doug Jones plays Norrin Radd/Silver Surfer. He is a 47 year old from Indiana.

Doug has appeared in almost 100 television commercials, including a very famous role as Mac Tonight for McDonald's. He has worked as a contortionist and been in over 25 films, countless television series, and participated in music videos with Madonna, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Marilyn Manson.

Some of his more notable roles include the Hellboy movie series, "Pan's Labyrinth", "Lady in the Water", "Men in Black", and he was Thin Clown in "Batman Returns". He was also in an episode of one of my favorite television shows, "Criminal Minds".

His arrival complicates things a lot, considering every time he appears the planet he appears on is destroyed in three days . . . not a small complication! Can the Fantastic Four find the Silver Surfer and stop him from destroying the planet in time?
