I am a veteran Las Vegas traveler, but in the last few weeks, I have found that I am merely a beginner in planning a money saving trip to Las Vegas. I started visiting Sin City in 2002 with my now husband. We had put down a deposit on a cruise to the Caribbean that we were not able to go on at a travel agency. Instead of losing our deposit, we decided to change our plans and pay for the majority of a trip to Las Vegas instead. We had a blast, and, as creatures of habit, we have booked every subsequent trip to Vegas through our travel agent ever since. The last week has opened my eyes to the mistake of this.

First off, let me say that our travel agent is a good one. She booked us vacations that were completely acceptable to us as far as price and location were concerned. We had ground transportation and many coupons included in our package, so even though I now know I can do it for less, I still feel she did right by us. That being said, I have found I can get much better deals by booking directly with the hotels. Here are a few tips to getting a great deal in Las Vegas. I have also included which websites helped me out the most.

1) Sign up for as many Players Club cards online as possible. The reason for doing so is that it puts you on the casino's mailing list, even if you have never gambled a single cent at their property. They will e-mail you deals that they have going on over the course of the year and that can significantly discount your room rate. Sometimes they even include perks such as free food and sometimes even free money to gamble with, depending on what type of room you book. For example, I just signed up online at the Venetian for their Players Club and they gave both me and my husband $15.00 worth of credits to gamble at the slots with. That is $30.00 of free gambling, simply for signing up ahead of time! Once you have made your first trip to Las Vegas, make sure you present your Player's Club card every time you gamble. The casino tracks how much you spend with them and this can score you discounted, or even free rooms, free food, and many other "comps". Wouldn't it be nice to pay $59.00 for a room instead of the regular rate of $200.00?

Wow, great tips. I'm not much of a gambler, but you can't beat the electric energy in Las Vegas, either. Thanks.
