EHarmony Discriminates Against Gays and Lesbians

Matchmaking for Everyone? Nope

Practically everyone has heard of eHarmony.com, the personal matchmaking website started by Dr. Neil Clark Warren. The bespectacled man appears against a white backdrop in the website’s television advertisements, talking about their special methodology for marriage matching and how
everyone deserves companionship. You get the impression they’re trying to sell you on eHarmony’s “scientific” approach, but there’s an eerie clinical tone to the commercials that raises some suspicion. Still, if you’re like me, you’re intrigued enough to check out the site and at least get your free compatibility profile.

So, one afternoon, while staring at the steady drizzle outside my window, I figured it would be a good time to fill out their super-detailed questionnaire. I went to eHarmony.com and was done in about 10 seconds. Why so fast, you ask?

Because I’m gay. And eHarmony discriminates against gays and lesbians.

If you’re not heterosexual, you can’t even get past the first page. The website has only two choices: “I’m a man seeking a woman” and “I’m a woman seeking a man.” For the millions of single non-heterosexual people out there, eHarmony declines service…but they’re passive-aggressive about it. Nowhere on the site are potential users explicitly informed that eHarmony discriminates against gays and lesbians. Their terms of service make no mention of sexual orientation. Gays and lesbians only find out when they begin the sign-up process, like I did. When they see the site doesn’t welcome them, they can’t find an explanation – even in the “Help” section. It’s as if same-sex matching had never even occurred to Dr. Warren.

Chemistry.com caters to everyone, so I would suggest going there; like Talyseon.

Here is the answer. Ignore EHarmony. Go to Chemisty.com. They match gays and lesbians as well. Encourage your hetero friends to do the same.

not all black people are deeply hated. perhaps some small towns. but i live near detroit. so usually its the white guys who gets bad things happen. but i believe thats more the culture being sold to colored people. me im freinds with a lot of lesbians, mostly from going to city club. and i rarely see people giving them crap. perhaps people have accepted the idea a bit more. althou they have gotten declined. but thats probly due to the peircings and other things them two was wearing. but a guy with a ton of tattoos and peircings gets the same stuff so i dont think it was a slap in the face for lesbians. but yes eharmony is a big waste of money. the people who join those kinda things have money to burn instead of paying bills and saving that money. so i whouldnt feel outraged over this, its pretty much a waste of time when theres bigger things to point at and do. crap happens in society. its just a numbers game to them.

Stupid machine. ME SMASH! Well, anyway, I meant to say, if I still had feelings about this kind of thing, they'd have been hurt after seeing that there wasn't even an option for me on the first page. Just a gentle note is all I'm asking for here. I didn't think it sounded like to much... "FAGS: GO ELSWHERE" Pretty much sums up what I got. Ah well.

Personally, I don't feel that EHarmony "has" to offer anyone anything, and I agree with the statements made by some others here that it's simple enough to just go elsewhere if you don't like their business. I myself am a gay man, and met my husband (we're Canadians, it's legal here) the old fashioned way. Not to sound rude, but if you are so socially retarded that you can't meet people without PAYING through the nose for some internet service that claims to match people based on so-called compatibility, that's your choice (by the way, sexuality isn't for the ignorant people that have commented who seem to think that it is. Don't claim to be experts on human sexuality. I sincerely doubt that you are). Wait until there are a few Eharmony divorces under their belt. I wanna see that commercial...LOL Did you also happen to notice that there are not any interracial couples on the commercials? Interesting huh?

Well, Mike...homosexuality was removed from the list of mental disorders back in the early 1970s...so maybe you should brush up on your psychology. Also, your thoughts on gender roles in same-sex relationships are concerning and archaic.
