Summertime brings in a lot of ants, for as intended by nature; this is the time of the year that they need to beef up the food hunting, so that they will have plenty of food during winter. Although we love learning the value of life and saving for the rainy days from these little creatures, we all have to admit, we are not too fond of them. This is especially when they start invading your kitchen counters and cabinets, raiding your food pantries and sometimes, even the refrigerator! We can sometimes ignore them when they are outside, even when they are overflowing inside our garbage, but when they start coming inside- it means war!

For the past 3 years now my husband had been able to fight back and win the battle with ants. This is especially when, as landlords, our tenants would sometimes call us asking to save them from these invading little legged creatures. Instead of calling our home warranty company who would readily charge a minimum of $45 just to come and spray, my husband figured out that we can do this ourselves and save a bundle. He went to Home Depot and got a product which has proven to get rid of ants and some other bugs. Although the product claims to be able to kills other insects like all types of beetles, example Asian Lady Beetles, Centipedes, Cockroaches, Crickets, Fleas, Flies, Mosquitoes, Pantry Pests, Scorpions, Spiders (such as Black Widow, Brown Recluse, and Hobo) Silverfish and Ticks, I would like to state that this review will only be for ants since we only had problems with them...so far. According to the label it kills all types of ants including Carpenter Ants. The Ortho Home Defense Max comes in 1.33 GAL. (5.03L), which costs around $12.44 plus tax. It is fast acting, non-staining, and odor free. It comes with its own pull 'n spray, which is the easy way to spray.

Oh by the way, pets can carry the biting mites, and you have to be sure to get rid of the host animal such as mice and rats. Birds also carry a type of biting mites here in Texas. They jump like fleas, but they don't produce larvae that cling to the hair like lice, and they are much smaller, the size of a period at the end of the sentence. You can only see them when a light beam catches them mid-air.

No, You have to wash the walls and bed frame, furniture touching the wall and bed with DDVP, (dichlorvos) per dermatologist in Dallas, TX. Then wash all bedding in detergent and hot water with bleach and dry until thoroughly in hot dryer. Wash all clothing the same way, vacuum couches an sofas, chairs, Be sure to wasch coats and run pillows through the hot dryer. If you don't wash your hair everyday, use Rid without water on your hair and leave on for 5 minutes. You can shave everything else and even shave your head.

This is supposed to work for biting mites (topical rat mites) per the A & M Agricultural Extension on their website (Texas).

I think bugs could carry you out of Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisianna if they didn't want you there. We have problems with them all. May give this product a try.

I agree. Ants are a bit of a pest. This sounds like a really good product. Sophie
