Loren Coven, Grey Matters Web Comic Artist
Whatever is going on here is not on my end but Associated Content's.
LT: What are the influences for Grey Matters?
LC: GreyMatters is influenced by parts of my life and the lives of my close friends. Dreams also play a factor into it too. Somehow they all come
together to make the comic.
LT: The character Rene is based on how you were four years ago, is the family that surrounds her based on your real
family?
LC: Sorta, this is where the dreams come in as well as some other influences.
LT: What sort of dreams influenced the comic?
LC: I have vivid dreams the influenced the comic.
LT: Is Wednesday based on someone you know and if so, why was that person chosen?
LC: This is where the other influences come into play. Wednesday is a character I have had for years who was there without any real purpose. Her
original vision was from a dream similar to Rene and everyone else in the comic.
LT: I've noticed that you frequently struggle with artist's block which is something I can sympathize with. How do you overcome this struggles?
LC: I try to change my routine a bit really. Try to find some way to focus again.
LT: One of the story lines deals with an overly aggressive person outing Wednesday at a pool. In an asterisk in the article, you have said you
have met people like this? How often and how do you deal with them? I take it your response is less sever then Rene's.
LC: Usually what happens with me is they'll do something like that and everyone will look at me, look at them, look back to me, then look back to
them like they're crazy. If they did grope me as Wednesday was then that falls under sexual assault and most people aren't too keen on that sort of
thing happening to a girl. Or if nobody notices it happen I give them incentive to never do it again, giving them a limp for a couple days is a
good deterrent.
LT: One of your filler cartoons references Project 7. Would you like to enlighten the readers on what Project 7 is or will it remains secret?
LC: The various Projects I have are all just partly done. 7 is actually taking some shape and will probably have an actual title before long.
Most likely it will become a video game in a year or so.
