Electric, cordless, and gas are the three main types of hedge trimmers. Many people choose to use gas hedge trimmers over electric or cordless trimmer. They use gas trimmers because of their increased mobility and power. Unfortunately, these hedge trimmers also have a few disadvantages. Some of the disadvantages include reduced comfort, startup difficult, and higher cost. This article will discuss some of the disadvantages of gas hedge trimmers.

Comfort

One of the first disadvantages of gas hedge trimmers is comfort. These type of trimmers produce more vibration that can be very uncomfortable on your hands after a while. Gas hedge trimmers are also heavier and will likely wear your arms down if you use them for long periods of time.

Motor

Another disadvantage of gas hedge trimmers is the motor. Although they have stronger motors capable of producing more power, they are also louder than other types of hedge trimmers. The motor also produces gas fumes, so you would need to wear a mask if you don't want to inhale them. In addition to the disadvantages of the motor, these trimmers also can be difficult to start.

Startup

One of the next disadvantages of gas hedge trimmers is the startup. Electric hedge trimmers have automatic startups, so you never have to worry about having problems starting them. Gas hedge trimmers can sometimes be extremely difficult to get started. You also have to make sure you provide the right fuel mixture to get it started. Besides startup problems, another problem is the price.

Expense

One of the last disadvantages of gas hedge trimmers is the expense. The price of other types of hedge trimmers range from $40 to $130. The least expensive gas trimmer will cost you at least $130, while the most expensive gas hedge trimmers cost approximately $450. The price is the main reason why these hedge trimmers are mostly used only by professionals.
