Because of You: Reba McEntire and Kelly Clarkson About to Top Charts

Since winning American Idol, Kelly Clarkson has sold 16 million albums worldwide, scored countless Billboard awards, two Grammy awards, and a likeable following no other artist in current pop music has. Clarkson has gone on to make her dreams come true. One more dream is coming true. Kelly and her longtime childhood hero, country legend Reba McEntire, have teamed up for Reba's Duets album due out in September.

Followers of the two have reported that the two singers paired up to record a song titled "A Lot Like You." But after McEntire's taping for CMT Crossroads this previous November, Narvel, Reba's husband, suggested the two recreate Clarkson's No. 1 ASCAP award winning song "Because of You." The two southern gals agreed, and have released the country duet as Reba's first single from the album.

"When I first heard 'Because of You,' I said to myself 'This girl can write. She can sing.' The song really touched my heart," Reba let CMT Insider know during a press conference for version of CMT Crossroads, where rock meets country.

"It's one of the most fun videos I've gotten to be a part of. I love that era. I love the way Kelly looked, I loved the way I looked. It's so theatrical," McEntire also told CMT Insider about the 40's Hollywood production of the video, shot by Roman White.

Well, it seems the two American icons have created yet another hit. Just this past week, "Because of You" hit No. 1 on Mediabase Canada after six weeks of airplay. Charts for the U.S. have just been released and Clarkson's original No. 1 hit, written when she was just 16 years old, has entered Top 10 on Mediabase as well, jumping up two spots since last week. Clarkson's last LP Breakaway hit No. 1 on Billboard's Top Pop Catalog Albums for the first time this week, giving the Idol franchise its 130th No. 1. Momentum is being built on the country release "Because of You" and once it reaches the top, it will boost that number to 131.
