Many companies are now using telephone interviews in order to select viable candidates for employment. It is the candidates responsibility to make sure they are thoroughly prepared to do well in the interview. I would like to share several pointers that will help you execute a solid interview from the comfort of your home.Pointer One-It is very important to keep the following materials handy for your phone interview:
*Current Resume.
*Possible rebuttals to questions that the interviewer may ask.
*A memo pad along with a pen and pocket calculator.
*A calender listing prior scheduled engagements. You do not want to schedule a second interview on a day with other obligations that will require your time.
*A brief listings of all of your most important accomplishments, special skills, and awards.
*A notebook for each company that you have interviewed with. Please keep all documents that each company has sent you.
Pointer Two-Wear the proper attire as though you were doing a face to face interview. This will technique will help put you in the proper frame of mind.
Pointer Three-Be mindful of your grammar and tone of voice. Your grammar and voice will weigh heavily upon the recruiter's mind when deciding if he or she should offer you a second interview.
Please keep the following in mind:
*You must speak clearly and loud enough for the recruiter to hear you.
*Use proper grammar.
*Speak with enthusiasm and avoid pauses.
Pointer Four-Gather the recruiter's information at the beginning of the interview. You need to get the following:
*Recruiter's Name
*Recruiter's Title
*Recruiter's Telephone Number and Address
Pointer Five-Be a good listener. Interviewers are impressed when phone interview candidates are attentive. If you are a talkative person, exercise patience and speak well when it is your turn to talk.
Pointer Six-Be prepared for the interviewer to provide a scenario or illustration in order to find out how you would handle or respond to a work related challenge.
Pointer Seven-Take your time and don't do anything to rush the interview.
