The internet can be a great asset for those trying to help their family become more financially independent and save for the future. But let's face it; the internet is filled with a lot of crap. Below are 5 websites that I have found to be useful to the average person or family in their everyday financial life.

Miserlymoms.com is a website dedicated to families having more time together by spending less money and therefore not having to work as much. The website is filled with useful tips to reduce spending on clothes and food, among many other areas. Look for the article index on the left side for more ideas not listed directly on the homepage.

Stretcher.com is a website that is filled with money tips, from using coupons to saving for retirement this website covers it all. Stretcher.com lists links to a multitude of articles on ever imaginable subject, it bills its library as the "web's largest collection of free money saving articles". If you have a question that relates even vaguely to money, chances are good that stretcher.com will provide a solution.

ClarkHoward.com is the official website of talk radio host Clark Howard. Clark Howard's radio show is syndicated across the nation and is based in Atlanta, Georgia. The slogan of his radio show is to help you "save more, spend less, and avoid being ripped off". The website boasts many tips and ideas but he states on his show that the most visited section of his site is the 529 plan guide that rates each states specific plan. (A 529 plan is a tax advantaged college saving plan) A section at the bottom of the homepage titled Clark Smarts provides an index to topics in many areas.
