Is the Nautical Cruise Lines Halloween Cruise Worth It?

Halloween does not fall on just one day for me and my family. Halloween is an all month event, and each year my family looks for the best means of spooky entertainment.

Last year my brother discovered The Long Island Ghost Ship Dinner Cruise which occurred on the 28th or 29th of October 2006. I see this year that Nautical Cruise is scheduling the exact same cruise on the exact same night for this year, so I figured I may as well warn all of you folks whom are interested in dishing out $85.99 per person to board the ship and enjoy a night of fun.

But first let me explain why we were suckered into believing that this cruise would be fun. Well for one, it was SUPPOSED to leave dock and cruise around the bay, secondly there is an open bar, dinner, coffee, desert, (a 4 star meal), a costume contest, and best of all the ship is supposed to be done up to be all spooky.

What you really get:

1. A 2 hour drive into Freeport, only to wait for another hour for them to board you onto the ship. Mind you the wind was blowing, and that night the temperature was freezing. So my family and a group of about 150 other people all sat out in the cold as we waited for the captain to let us on board. I did not let this ruin my spirit though, I was ready to hop on board and get the party started.

2. You get piled into a small dance room. In the middle of the room is a nice slick wood floor, and on the sides are tables. On one end of the room is the bar, and the other end is the DJ booth. The dance floor in my opinion seemed way too small to hold this many people.

3. The loud music plays, yet thrown in the mix is some ridiculous tunes. I thought this was a Halloween party? Usually when I throw Halloween bashes at home NOTHING but spooky tunes gets played. We do not grind on the dance floor to Usher, or Christina Aguleria. What Gives!? I had to actually go up and recommend they play Michael Jacksons Thriller! My Halloween song man!

Someone said they upped their game in 08 though, so that was nice to hear. I doubt I'll check it out in 09 though. Maybe if a close friend tells me something otherwise.

I'm always looking for fun horror attractions for Halloween and when I read the title of your article, I thought, 'awesome!' I never heard of the Halloween Cruise in Freeport. Now that I've read your piece, though, I'll definitely pass. Sorry it sucked! The Bayville Scream Park was pretty good last year; it's slightly pricey but you get 3 houses of terror. Happy Haunting!

No rain the year I went, windy yes, but no rain. Only one dance floor was accesible... I had no idea we could go to the upper deck. That would of been neat... there should be a discount given if/when the boat doesnt leave dock. Ammityville Horror House? Why so? They don't they you in.

You should have went to the AMITTYVILLE HORROR HOUSE to spend your Halloween......Have you ever been on a boat sometimes when its blowing a gale warning boats have to stay at the dock for the safety of the patrons....$89.00 for Open bar...dinner and desert DJ nad dancing and a great time this price is very cheap!!! I think that your more annoyed that you traveled 2 hrs and were just PISSED OFF!!! I've been on this cruise for many years I have such a GREAT TIME, that me and the group I always come with come back every year. For those people who like to have a good time and dress up in a costume eat great food , and have great service and fun, Nautical Cruise Lines is the place to be !!!!! It's very different and alot of fun, I'm sorry a few differnt tunes in the mix adds alot more fun. Somes times its hard to dance to THE MUNSTERS all night, and there are 2 dance floors the whole upper level also, unfortunatley it rained , but it won't be like that every year as a matter of fact I have
