I loved athletics from as far back as I can remember. I remember always hearing about Jerry Rice's legendary workout routine and that being the reason he was head and shoulders the best, so I started to get involved in fitness. I learned fitness can make you stronger, run faster, jump higher, and never tire out. I told myself "WoW I could make myself so much better" and I envisioned myself as a super hero.

Fast forward.

Naturally I became a Personal Fitness Trainer. I helped many clients but always found it easier to identify with my clients who had the same kind of body type and goals that I did. I decided to better understand my over-weight clients by becoming over-weight myself.

70 lbs later I can't move the way I use to. I get tired easily and I feel awkward. It's miserable. Starting off my workouts didn't last long but I hung in there. Dieting was miserable. Dieting meant that I would be cutting down on the only thing that made me happy. Eating was the only time I felt good and that's only if it wasn't one of those times I stopped and thought of what a fat miserable blob I've become because of this delicious food.

Slowly and successfully I lost all the weight and now find myself knowing exactly what my client is going through. Now I know how to support them and what to tell them. They know that I did it and they can too.

Takeaways

  • The heavier you are the quicker you burn calories
  • Starting an exercise program is tough so take it easy and make sure to add a little more each time
