SiCKO Gives Rise to Questions About America's Health Care System

I had watched the movie SiCKO that was written and produced by Micheal Moore. I was really shocked at what I had seen. I could sort of get a grasp of what Americans go through when they have no insurance; for that matter at one time I was without
health insurance my self. I had often hoped and prayed that I would never have to get admitted into the hospital for any serious injury.

The fact that those of us that are insured fall short of getting adequate medical care was shocking to me. How could a country that is so rich in resources allow something like this to happen? Let's all say it together the one word that sums it all up....GREED..... A friend told me a long time ago that this country was built upon greed and I could not argue with him. France was listed as number one in quality health care and America was listed as number 37; did you get that number 37. The movie stated that this broken health care system started back during the Nixon administration when managed health care was introduced to the American people. It was introduced to us as a good thing, but in actuality it gave us less and less care. Many people that worked for the managed health care industry had left due to the coldness of its very nature. Doctors were given bonuses for the number of treatments rejected. In France doctors are given incentives on the number of patient they get to stop smoking and the amount of preventative care that is given to lower the risks of heart attack, diabetes, cancer and etc.

Hi, "Dina". :-) I actually can't wait to see this movie. I recently watched an interview on TV with Michael Moore, and even the interview itself outraged me when I heard the actual figures of uninsured U.S. citizens. I was actually denied insurance for two years even though I have a chronic illness, and everytime I needed medical care, I had to go to the hospital and accept the fact that I would be billed thousands of dollars. It's just nauseating.
