How Much Should You Spend on a Date?
Let us assume that you are dressed to impress with your $200 pair of Kenneth Cole shoes, your Gucci shirt and your custom made pants. You look like a million bucks! You then go out and rent yourself a BMW and peel off to pick up your date. She is really impressed by your wealth. After driving around a little in the car you show up to an expensive restaurant and drop $150 on the dinner. If that wasn't enough you also took her out for cocktails and had 4 of these at $10.00 a piece!
Of course you have really impressed your date. She is amazed at everything you did for her. She now has the impression that you are a really good catch because you have lots of money to spend on her. Unfortunately, you don't have this kind of money to keep spending on her each and every date. When you show up with your rusted out Chevrolet she might just think you are a phony and you will ruin any future dates with her.
There is another possible scenario that happens. Let us say the woman you are asking out on a date has the right upbringing and self-confidence. She doesn't need your money and wants someone "down to earth". Instead of giving the right impression you find that she is not only not impressed but annoyed by the whole concept of you spending your entire paycheck on her. "He looks desperate" she thinks to herself.
The proper amount that anyone should spend on a date ranges from $50 to $100 dollars depending on what city you live in. If you live in New York or Boston you can expect to pay more but in most cities you can get a good meal for about $20-$25 a plate. Add a few drinks after the meal and you should be in your target range.
