Headaches. There are all types of headaches with a myriad of causes. When you are suffering from a headache, you really do not care about the cause at first, you care more about a cure. To understand the remedies, you must first understand what causes headaches and what different types exist.

When you are suffering from chronic headaches, often your first inclination is to take over-the-counter medicine. Decisions, decisions. If you are choosing a headache medicine, you will be faced with making the decision about what type of headache you have. There are many choices such as relief from sinus headaches, tension headaches, migraine headaches and more.

If you find that you are suffering from chronic headaches, you need to try to determine the cause so that you can find the appropriate remedy.

First, you need to determine whether your headache is a primary headache or a secondary headache. A primary headache is not associated with other diseases such as a migraine, tension headache or cluster headache. A secondary headache is associated with another disease.

Primary headaches affect many. According to www.medicinenet.com, 90% of adults have had or will suffer from a tension headache, and are most common in women. Migraine headaches are the second most common type and affect 12% of the population. Cluster headaches affect less than one percent of the population.

See a doctor to help determine if your headache is a secondary headache. These can be caused by anything from caffeine or a brain tumor. It will be helpful if you keep a log or diary so your doctor can see if your headaches follow any pattern or are associated with specific activities, foods etc.

Take Control of The Pain If your headache has started, begin your remedy as soon as possible. Take drugs your doctor has prescribed or an over the counter medicine, if you desire. Or, if you prefer, use "natural" methods such as a moist cloth of cool water on your forehead and temples.

Great advice. I have suffered from migraines since puberty. My mother and sister have them also. They can be triggered by hormones or certain foods (MSG, Aspartame). Thanks for the article!

I would definitely have to agree with the chiropractic care (works wonders) and the plummeting blood sugar cause. I can identify with both of those!

I have a friend who used accupuncture. It didn't take long for results, and she didn't have to do it forever. I think peppermint cures anything! Important info. This one gets a bookmark.
