The Suns' have broken through the beginning of summer with their follow-up record to Warmth, Wake Up. This time around Dave Lloyd (lead vocals, guitars) and Markus Mulholland (bass guitar, vocals) tapped fellow Merseyside musician Sean Buls (guitar) to join them, and together the trio has released a solid body of work known as Wake Up which consists of 14 original tracks bursting with gorgeous guitar work and a production so pure and crisp that the record never loses its focus. Not only can you hear each individual musical layer, be it vocal or instrumental, but can also FEEL them and subsequently follow The Suns' process of combining them together into a finished song. It's like when you have a great meal where each individual ingredient in the recipe holds it's own and contributes to a perfect dish. That's what Wake Up is like, a perfectly planned and executed formula for your hungry auditory senses.

I'm writing about 4 out of 14 songs because I don't want to cheat you out of your own discovery of what remains on Wake Up; know this: there are no throwaways here as each song stands on its own as something to be enjoyed and treasured. Dave, Markus and Sean have taken elements of a musical recipe and crafted the perfect record for your pleasure and you will surely be doing yourself a disservice if you pass on the experience.

Julianne Regan of All about Eve fame had this to say about the second track on Wake Up: "Believe is a hit, for sure. And with Wings and Badfinger in there, you can't go wrong. Very lovely bass-playing indeed. Good luck!" Believe is emerging as the most talked about track, a true guilty pleasure, per se, though I don't see anything wrong about digging this song that hits your brain's pleasure sensors in all the right places.

So this is where the comments box is. I am too lazy to scroll, that's how bad I am. Anyway, comment boxes and laziness aside, that's a fantastic review and certainly peaks my interest. Do you think they plan to tour farther reaches of the globe? I hope so.

I have to say, I love what I've heard thus far that The Suns have put out there - and am really looking forward to giving a listen to this as well! This review just makes me hungry for more - there's just something about their music - it's a beautiful trip!
