The Horadric Cube in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction is an item found after a quest that is used in several ways. If you keep the Horadric cube in your inventory it will take up 4 slots, but it will in turn give you 12
slots of storage inside the cube. Carrying it with you along exploration of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction lets you carry an extra 8 slots of items than going along without the cube.

The Horadric Cube is also used to convert items in Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction to other items. This is called transmuting in the game. There are many items that you can transmute into other items in the game, some of them widely known, some not. The Horadric Cube is also instrumental in converting items to items needed to complete a quest or mission (Khalim’s Flail and the Horadric Staff for example). Certain crafted items will use the Horadric Cube to transmute the individual pieces.

The Horadric Cube is needed to convert Wirt’s Leg found in the saving Deckard Cain quest to be able to open the elusive Cow Level portal. This portal is given after you complete the game once. The Cow Level is difficult and should be attempted in a group, but will give up many rare and magic items in its drops.
