The Best Dessert of Earth: Serendipity 3's Frozen Hot Chocolate

Serendipity 3 is located in New York City and has been around since 1954. It is part store, part restaurant, part soda fountain and part coffee house. Serendipity 3 was founded in 1954 by Stephen Bruce and his two partners, Calvin Holt and Preston
 "Patch" Caradine. They came from the island Serendip, now known as Sri Lanka. The restaurant is known for its great food and even better desserts. The dessert it is most famous for its Frozen Hot Chocolate. This recipe was always top secret until the restaurant turned 50 years old. The Frozen Hot Chocolate is an icy dessert served in a huge goblet bowl, made with several different chocolates, cocoas, ice and served with mounds of whip cream and chocolate shavings on top. Stars from past and present that are known for loving the delicious dessert include Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, Grace Kelly, Cary Grant, The Duchess of Windsor, Cher, Diana Ross, Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Courtney Love, Meg Ryan, and Oprah Winfrey.

Ingredients :

· 6 half-ounce pieces of a variety of your favorite chocolates

· 2 teaspoons store-bought hot chocolate mix

· 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar

· 1 1/2 cups milk

· 3 cups ice

· Whipped cream

· Chocolate shavings

Directions :
Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place it in the top of a double boiler over simmering water, stirring occasionally until melted. Add the cocoa and sugar, stirring constantly until thoroughly blended. Remove from heat and slowly add 1/2 cup of the milk and stir until smooth. Cool to room temperature.

In a blender place the remaining cup of milk, the room temperature chocolate mixture, and the ice. Blend on high speed until smooth and the consistency of a frozen daiquiri. Pour into a giant goblet and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings. This can be enjoyed with a spoon or a straw.
