Throw a Fun, Inexpensive, and Easy Cook-Out Barbecue this Summer!

You can have a fun cookout with minimal costs this summer if you shop and plan carefully. The cheapest way to grill outside is to use a simple charcoal grill. Of course if you already have a big fancy grill, use it! But
a simple charcoal grill will do fine. You can buy one at your local Wal-Mart Store or hardware store for under $100.00. It should last for several summers and is well worth the investment.

After setting up your new grill, you'll have to do some shopping. For a four couple party (eight people), a shopping list will help you figure out what, and how much food and supplies you'll need to purchase. First thing on the list is the briquets and lighter fluid. Most stores such as Wal-Mart will have a variety of briquets. You don't have to purchase the most expensive bag, since they all work pretty much the same, and will do the same job. A good one, if available at your store is "Sams Choice Professional Quality", which comes in an 18 lb resealable, easy tote bag. The bag should ring in at under $10.00, but it will last for several barbecue parties. Then of course you'll need lighter fluid to start the briquets. Buy a two quart charcoal starter bottle that is clean burning. You'll be glad you did, 'cause you'll need it for your future summer parties.

One thing that people don't generally think about is to use some extra flavoring on the grill in the form of wood chips. A good one is Weber Fire Spice. The Mesquite is my favorite and comes in a 105 cu. in. bag. You just soak a handful of the chips for 30 minutes in water, drain and throw on the ashen coals. You'll get a delicious smoky flavor in your grilled food!
