Disclaimer. I do not claim to be a professional ghost hunter and I use the term "ghost hunter" very loosely. Professional Ghost hunters use specialized equipment that is said to detect changes in the electromagnetic field and so on. I have never used any equipment during my visits to haunted places. I never set out to get involved with haunted areas, buildings, or people. My intermediate psychic skills, and the fact that paranormal events seem to be attracted to me, have pulled me, usually reluctantly, into situations such as that discussed in this article.

I picked the case in this article because it is very typical of the kinds of cases I've been asked to look into. The purpose of this two-part article is to give you the chance to see how eventful and/or non-eventful a typical layman's paranormal investigation is. Naturally, I can only write about my own experiences. Every case is different; every investigator is different.

Germany 1999

While I was staying in Germany, two German friends announced that they had received a call from a young couple they knew in a neighboring town. The couple was having unusual problems with their house and had called on my friends--I will call them Sylvia and Celeste-- to see if they could help. Sylvia, the elder of the two, urged me to go along because she knew that sometimes I could sense the paranormal. She had great faith in me. I was concerned about going because it had been a long time since I had involved myself in any "ghost hunting" but they convinced me to, at least, visit with the couple.

When we arrived I could tell that Sylvia, or someone, had already told the young couple something about me and my occasional talents. A mixture of curiosity, embarrassment, and fear shone in their eyes as they greeted me and I just knew then that someone must have told them I was some kind of a psychic. It was a strange feeling. I am not a professional and never claim to be. Sometimes my feelings are spot on, other times they are not. That is typical, actually, of many skilled people. Nevertheless, I do not advertise myself as a professional.

Interesting to say the least. I also know hat some time people who have been seriously ill can become psychic after their experiences.

thank you for the comments. Dr D. you are right-- I did not insinuate that young children tend to be more influenced by evil. I wasn't sure exactly what Linda meant--which is why I didn't respond earlier-- because I did not make such an insinuation. And you are also right, secondly, that there is a lot of evidence to support that some children tend to draw supernatural ( preternatural) events both the benign kinds and the more sinister kinds. Children and teens seem a bit more vulnerable to certain sorts of things.

What the hell is Linda even talking about? Yeesh. I suggest she re-read this. I see no such insinuation... but even if there were, there is much evidence to support it.

Interesting. I don't like the incinuation that it is always a young child that is somehow influenced by evil!
