When I first came across Meddling Kids, my first thought was "Who would want to do this?" I knew immediately it was one of those things that was so bizarre I just had to order it from my favorite gaming store. I did not act right away though, I decided to mull it over for several weeks. Curiosity eventually got the best of me.

The next week the simple little book came in and my suspicions were confirmed. Meddling Kids was in fact an attempt to do a Scooby Doo like roleplaying game for children. I laughed when I first flipped through the pages of the small paperback book, but the game designers did have a point. The people working for Panda games did not belabor the point of many parents being uncomfortable with some of the elements of traditional fantasy role playing games, the said simply that the rules are too complex for young people who may just be starting out in the hobby.

The book once I tore into it started out with the history of the cartoon and exactly when it became a tradition to show cartoons on Saturday morning, now a staple of the American television scene. Don't worry, it doesn't take too long before it gets into the traditional "What is role playing?" chapter and then starts in on the rules for the game.

The rules themselves are simple as you would expect them to be. Rather than getting bogged down with a lot of specifics, it tries to cover as much general topics as possible without needing exceptions. While most such games are bugged down with stats or skills, Meddling Kids only uses 4. Instead of needing special or varied types of dice like many other role playing games do, the people at Panda Games decided to stick to two six sided dice which should be available in any house that ever bought a board game.
