I have mentioned in past articles that my husband is disabled. For that reason, things that are simple for many other people to do can be challenging for him. Like most of us, he wants to be able to do something to help him stay in better shape, but larger exercise equipment, like a stepper, is just too bulky and way too hard for him to use.

He can't stand long on them, due to issues with balance and has concerns about falling off, so we started looking around, in various healthcare catalogs, for something that could provide him a means of exercise, without compromising his personal safety. We also wanted something that was not going to be very expensive or take up a lot of space. We live in a small apartment, so have limited room.

We came across a product in a Carol Wright Gifts catalog, called the "Aerobic Exerciser". It was a small exerciser, made like bicycle pedals, which the user can either pedal with his or her feet to tone up legs and thighs or pedal with the hands to tone and firm up arms. We had seen a similar product advertised on a television ad before, but had not ordered it, due to its price. Since the "Aerobic Exerciser" looked about the same, but was considerably cheaper, we decided to order it and give it a try.

It arrived a few weeks later. Unfortunately, some assembly was required. This was fine for my husband, though, because he enjoys "piddling around" with stuff, and he was able to put it together relatively quickly. It took awhile for him to get acclimated to using it, but, since last Christmas, he has been doing exercises with this product without too much difficulty.

He can pedal while he is sitting down watching television, the ultimate dream for my hubby. I've tried using it, as well, but it felt awkward to me, because I felt like my feet were going to slip out from the straps on the pedals..
