Brent & Sam's Gourmet Cookies: Simply Delicious!

Chocolate chip cookies are probably one of the most popular kinds of cookies made and sold in the US. They are, generally, available in two varieties - crispy and chewy, and two types, 'natural' and the put-whatever-you-have-to into the recipe to get them to taste right type. Brent & Sam's are a wonderful example of the first variety, first type. Crispy and natural. (All natural ingredients with no preservatives added.) Made by the company of the same name in North Little Rock, AK, they were first introduced locally there in 1985 and began national distribution about ten years later.

When my favorite brand of this type of cookie (Barbara's Crispies) disappeared from store shelves about a year ago, I called the that company and was told that while everyone who worked there loved them, there was not enough of a market to justify their continuing manufacture. One of their staff told me that they actually sought out a replacement and settled on Brent & Sam's! With this rather unexpected recommendation in hand and in mind, I ordered a case of them directly from Brent & Sam's and have found a more than adequate substitute for a lost friend.

Packaged in a bag-shaped cardboard box weighing 7 ozs. and containing 16 or 17 cookies sealed in an aluminum sack, they are entirely natural. No artificial ingredients. Listed are Semi-sweet chocolate (what else?!), unbleached wheat flour, butter, organic evaporated cane juice, whole eggs, organic molasses, pure vanilla extract, other natural flavors, baking soda and salt. No trans fats and a minimum of both sodium and cholesterol. Two of these cookies hold about 120 calories - 50 of them from fat. Mouth watering.

Available in Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chip Pecan, Key Lime White Chocolate, Ginger Spice, Oatmeal Pecan (with Cinnamon and Raisins) and White Chocolate Macadamia, each version (I have personally tried four of them so far) is unique and of the same quality of my favorites - the Chocolate Chips.
