A lot of people will experience these things and write them off as the results of stress, or getting older. The truth is, any one of these things could be a symptom of thyroid problem sneaking in to your life.
The thyroid gland is located in your neck, around the center part. This is just below where you would find the Adam's apple on a man. This gland produces a hormone which controls your metabolism, your growth, and the way your body uses vitamins and energy. When this gland is working too hard, you are said to have a hyperthyroid. If it is not working fast enough, it is called a hypothyroid.
Weight gain, loss of energy, loss of hair, and feeling cold all the time can all be symptoms of a hypothyroid. A very dangerous symptom of thyroid problem such as hypothyroidism is the strain that is put on the heart. This condition puts excess strain on the heart which can lead to heart problems.
This can usually develop from as little as a few weeks up to over a period of months. This is why it is so important to get any symptom of thyroid problem treated. 'The earlier, the better' is a rule when dealing with any type of thyroid condition or symptom of thyroid problem. This is doubled for someone with a hypothyroid because this can severely affect the brain or cause intestinal issues.
Any symptom of thyroid problem can become dangerous. A hypothyroid, or a low thyroid level is especially prominent in women. When this condition is found in women who are pregnant, the risks become much greater.
