The Simpsons Movie

They Finally Make it to the Silver Screen!

There's a great reason why "The Simpsons" remains on Fox after so many years. The characters may all be stuck in a time warp, but it has always stayed in tune with what's going on in the world around us. It also defies the nature of animation by making you forget that it is an animated
show. The characters tend to exist more in the real world with a few exceptions here and there. We care what happens to these characters, and it doesn't matter just how dumb Homer gets, and his stupidity is neverending!

The show is now in an interesting position. It's been on television for close to two decades, and it's not quite as popular as it used to be, and I haven't watched any new episodes for sometime. I am more likely to catch it in reruns if I turn the TV on at the right time. There's also the DVD sets that are endless and have commentaries on every single episode. The Simpsons are here to stay, even if the show ever does come to an end.

Now, we barely get around to watching the newest episodes. The show is just there, and while we don't watch it as much, we are in no hurry to see it go away. So the creative minds behind this yellow family decided to make a movie. After all these years? Why now? What the hell took them so damn long? Anyway, this could be seen as coming out way too late, or as one big episode (or four episodes in one) that somehow got sneaked onto the silver screen.

Well...it doesn't disappoint! "The Simpsons Movie" was really worth the wait, and all those behind it were very smart in putting it together. This is not another episode of the long running show. It is a hit and miss affair, like many comedies I see here and there, but the stuff that does hit is hilarious. The Simpsons have broken through many of the boundaries that has held it back on television (most of the time anyway). We see many things here that you don't get to see on Fox (like truth in politics).
