Obama Supporters Plans to Celebrate His 46th Birthday

Perhaps it was mainstream media's criticism of Senator Barack Obama that caused his supporters to start plans to celebrate his 46th birthday. It has been said that the Senator is too young and too inexperienced to lead the country as president. Some will point

out that John F. Kennedy was 43 years old when he took office on January 20, 1961. Senator Obama served 8 years in the Illinois State Senate before becoming a US Senator 3 years ago. This lack of experience does not appear to deter his supporters.

A sampling of events being planned by Obama supporters to celebrate his 46th birthday include:

Joyce Fitzpatrick
is hosting a breakfast at Holly's Restaurant in Grasonville, Maryland at 8AM with environmental community service starting at 9AM on August 4, 2007.

Patricia Kaufman of Wilmington, North Carolina is hosting a coffee klatch for friends and neighbors on the morning of August 4.

Adam Hoyer is gathering supporters to do some telephone or door-to-door campaigning in Davenport, Iowa for several afternoon and early evening hours.

Justin Charity is seeking volunteers to talk to voters from 11AM to 6PM at the opening of Decorah, Iowa's office which will feature food and music.

Robert Commiskey is inviting supporters to attend a birthday bash at Stag's Head Pub in Houston Texas.

David Sanders is hosting a birthday party at the Reno, Nevada Obama Campaign headquarters. The party is free to attend with the donation of $10.00 worth of non-perishable food to be given to Northern Nevada Food Bank. Those who attend the party are asked to come prepared to donate time or money in helping a local charity of their choice for an afternoon and evening of community activism.

You vote against your own best interest over and over if you vote Republican. They are all about big business now. Maybe not in the distant past but from Reagan on...no way. You never hear Republicans mention Pres. Eisenhower do you. Do the research and find out why.

If you want our country to return to the European style government that our forefathers left, then vote for Obama. If you want to continue to live in a country where work and intelligence is rewarded, you should vote for McCain. Use your head, do the research for yourself, find out what is really good for the long term future of America. You don't have to listen to me, do the work yourself, unless that is what you want, someone else to do the work for you.

T Ransome: Obama did not tell a story of his parents meeting in Selma during the march. They met when he was a studying in the US due to a foreign education program. What he said was their "improbable union" would not have been possible if those brave people had not marched and fought for civil rights. "Guess Who's Coming To Dinner" was considered controversial because interracial marriages were not just frowned upon, in Jim Crow south, I believe, they were illegal. If it were not for Dr. King led marches and other's bravery, Obama would have grown up in a much different USA. That was the point he was trying to make and his words got twisted, is all.

I was just wondering about something. Barack tells the story about his parents meeting on the march to Selma in March, 1965 and he is the offspring of that union. My problem is how is that when he was born 3 years before in 1962?

Sometimes, I get so caught up in reading, that I forgets to leave a comment and goes on to the next article, etc; I'm sure I read this before. An excellent write, with very interesting information. I am a big fan of Obama, I believe he 's got what it takes to be the next president and to bring our military people home from war. Very good job on this piece.

Thanks for the comments. Especially appreciate those from my family. "Volunteering Begins At Home" was the title of a news article that featured a brother and sister. It would be nice to have a President that inspires more people to take grassroots efforts to help those less fortunate than themselves.

Do we have an editor in the house? Good catch, Rachel! I don't quite understand why Brandy came to this article just to say she prefers Hillary, but whatever. Go Obama! I like Hillary, but I don't even get remotely as excited when she speaks and have no clue when her birthday is nor am I following everything she's done. I think Obama is the best person for the job on this one, especially considering Hillary voted pro-war. She commented on it since then, but it still sticks with me. I think both would do a good job of helping out with the HIV/AIDS situation in Africa considering the Clintons go there regularly, Obama is from there and has done several things to help here and there. I'm looking forward to the next presidential election!
