California Renaissance fairs are very popular events. There are several Renaissance Fairs in California during the late summer and autumn season. Queen Elizabeth I and her Royal Court will be very busy recreating history at the various Renaissance fairs in California.

Queen Elizabeth I and Her Majesties Royal Court will be joined by gallant knights in armor, jugglers, jesters, fair maidens, bawdy wenches, gypsies, magical creatures, rogues and all manner of colorful costumed characters in the Renaissance Fairs. Characters are dressed in medieval clothing and Elizabethan garments. Visitors are welcome to participate by dressing in a Renaissance Costume.

September 8 - October 14, 2007 weekends
Renaissance Village comes to life with diverse group of characters, gossiping washerwomen, bellowing town criers, sword fighters and mischievous fools. The little village of Willingtown comes to life at the annual Market Fair. The highlight of the fair is full contact jousting in the Tournament of Horses Arena.

The day is full of non-stop entertainment. Street and stages boast music from tradition Morris and English Country to Celtic and Gypsy Tribal. Royal Garden stages plays out the original form of Renaissance theater. The villagers prepare for a visit from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I and Privateer Sir Francis Drake.

Six stages boast non-stop entertainment. Celebrate the harvest at the Marketplace., where master artisans offer the latest designs and hand made artwork. Artisans produce blown glass, armor, chain mail, keen blades, romantic clothing, leather-work, wood work, sculpture and much more.

"Enjoy sipping a glass of ale while visiting the fine marketplace. Food vendors serve snacks and meals and beverages. $25. Weekend pass $35. Lodging and hotels in Hollister include Best Western San Benito Inn, Hollister Inn, The Peacock Inn and Ridgemark Guest Cottages.
