Golf is one of those sports that one can start early in life. Once kids can hold a golf club, either at an early age of three playing with plastic golf clubs, they can start swinging and hitting those plastic golf balls. Starting early is a fun way for children to learn this sport. A good thing about this sport is that kids can practice inside or outside the house (inside, for putting and outside for the long swings and drives). As they grow a little bit older, and if they still want to be in this sport, there are lessons available for a fee, either at country clubs, or summer camps, whether it is individual or group lessons. My daughter attended a one week computer summer camp which included half a day of golf lessons at Stanford University in July of 2006. The instructor was a member of the PGA (Professional Golf Association) and he taught the kids the basic steps from handling the golf clubs, the proper body postures, hand positions, the swings, etc. Since then she has been enjoying the sport. We bought her a set of women's golf clubs and every now and then she would play it in our yard and garage- at least to practice her hand swings so that before her and her dad goes to the golf range she had already warmed up. Her dad got into golf when she got into it, so ours is not like those other kids whereby the parents influenced their kids; it was the other way around. My husband is more of a football person than a golf person, but he enjoys playing with her every now and then.
There are advantages to playing golf at an early age, here are some of them:
1) Concentration - if you start your kids early, they start to be able to use their concentration which will prove important not only for this game but for whatever sport or anything they would like to do in the future, may it be for studies or extra-curricular activities. A good golfer should know how to concentrate and not be bothered by little noise- concentration sometimes is an integral key to success.
