Money matters
Immigration does not come for free. It can be very expensive to emigrate to the United States. Form fees have recently increased. For example, Form I-130 Petition for alien relative costs $355, Form I-485 Register Permanent Residence or adjust status costs $930, plus $80 for a biometric test (where applicable), Form I-751 Petition to remove conditions of residence costs $465, plus $80 for the biometric service fee. These are small sample of some of the forms and fees that need to be covered during the course of the whole immigration process.
Failure to comply with proper payment or filing means losing out on a benefit or having to deal with long delays. If you plan on moving to America, you must have sufficient funds on you to cover all of your immigration costs. You cannot receive any benefits if you cannot pay for them. It is as simple as that.
Family
Unless you will be emigrating to America along with your whole family, the chances are it will be just you and your US citizen spouse or other family member (who will act as your sponsor), who accompanies you. If you are very close to your family and are used to seeing them on a regular basis, it can be very difficult to leave them behind as you move abroad to America. Instead of just a few miles or hours' distance from your family, you will now be an ocean apart. How do you feel about that?
