Why does it seem like I am being punished for smoking? I find it to be quite ridiculous when I go into my favorite local retailer and pay over $4.35 a pack for my privilege of smoking. I know some of my fellow smokers pay much higher prices for their cigarettes but it still outrageous. I think we are going a bit too far with this anti smoking movement. To add to my frustration today in the mail I received a post card from the Philip Morris USA company informing me that Congress is going to attempt a 156% tax increase on a carton of cigarettes!

In the last 7 years the tax on cigarettes has been increased over 70 times. How ridiculous! I believe in paying taxes, don't get me wrong. But, an increase of 156% is idiotic. I feel, and I am sure I am not alone in this that our government is going too far with smoking bans and cigarette taxes. I am glad that the youth of America is smoking less than my generation did. Not to mention the generations that have come before mine. In the days of my youth smoking just was not a big deal. When I got caught smoking at the age of 15 my parents were upset. They were upset I was sneaking around and hiding it from them. The smoking itself was cool with them. " Just don't hide and burn our house down!!" was the response I received. My grandfather was especially understanding. He started smoking in 1946 when cigarettes cost a nickle a pack . He was 12 years old then. How is that for inflation! In a matter of 61 years the price of cigarettes has increased by over $ 4.30 a pack . Now with the way things are looking in the state of Ohio, on sale cigarettes will be over $5 a pack. That is if we don't unite and demand our voices be heard. Enough is Enough! If you want to learn what you can do to make your voice heard please visit stoptheFETincrease.com .

Did You Know?
Cigarette prices have increased 80 % per pack in 7 years.

I think that all this on cigarettes trying to get people to quit is the wrong way! It is the choice of the people! If second hand smoke killed then lots of us wold have been dead long a go! It is not the second hand smoke that is poisoning the air we breathe! It is the pollution from plants! Or Facotiries! I know lots of people who never smoked and died of lung cancer due to where they worked! Now let me ask this question why is it people are bad for smoking and those who drink alchohol oh nothing is being said about that! THey are not being threaten with highr prices when they go buy that drink! Now one more how many people have been killed by smikokning and how many people have killed by drunk drivers? Now comeon people lay off the cigarettes! Better Cigarettes than all the strong drugs! Now what do you think?
