One of the best films of the year I think has been King Kong. This film has some great moments but the film does have some really awkward moments. Still I would highly recommend this film to everyone. Director Peter Jackson is known for his long films like the last Lord of the Rings film which seemed to drag on and on and I felt like this film was no different. The 3 hours that the movie takes is way too long.
At several different points in the film I thought it should've ended. The film I did enjoy thoroughly and I thought the storyline of the film was really good and was better than the original King Kong. The actors are really good in the film.
Just to quickly sum up King Kong, the film is about a movie director who is out of a job and wants to sail to Skull Island unbeknownst to the crew on the ship. On Skull Island the film director wants to shoot a spectacular film with its amazing sites. However legend has it that the island is spooked and the crew refuse to sail to the island. However when the ship is immersed in a fog and the ship veers off course, they are trapped on Skull Island. There they are attacked by the natives and the bloodshed that is spilt makes someone want to puke. The site of the natives alone is horrid. On the island the actress An
Darow is taken by the natives and given as a sacrifice to the giant beast known as King Kong. The crew of the ship blindly goes aboard the island in hopes of rescuing Ann. What they don't know however is that at least half of them will be killed on the island. On the ship writer Jack Driscoll falls in love with Ann. When Ann is offered as a sacrifice to King Kong, instead of killing her, Kong uses her as entertainment and Ann develops a fond relationship with Kong especially after he rescues her from a herd of dinosaurs.
The film continues as more of the crew on the ship die. Director Carl Denham wants to capture the sites of the island on his camera. However when the camera is destroyed, he comes up with the plan of capturing Kong and bringing him to the U.S. coast to show as a tourist attraction. He is successful in capturing Kong as he puts the beast to sleep.
