Why You Should Get Tested for H.I.V. at a Testing Center and Not a Health Clinic
When you get tested at an H.I.V. health center, you don't feel as though you are wearing the scarlet letter. When you walk into a health center, your walking into a facility that does not just specialize in H.I.V. testing, there will be many people there for different reasons, (appointment, physicals, walk-ins) but not many of them will be there to get tested for H.I.V. So when you walk into a health center to get tested you will probably looked at as though you were bearing the scarlet letter. If you were to get tested at an H.I.V. center that specializes in only STD testing you will not have to worry about the cold and offensive stares by others. You can shed that feeling of being the odd one out because you will already be inside of a H.I.V. testing center.
Your feeling of embarrassment will be minimized- Getting tested for H.I.V means that you are acknowledging that you have had unprotected sex, and when walking into a health clinic, people standing behind you for other appointments will know your situation. This will be very embarrassing. If you were to get tested at an H.I.V. center you will not have to worry about nosy folk, or others overhearing your reason for being at the clinic, because pretty much everyone at the H.I.V. testing center are there for the same reason, they all had unprotected sex just like you.
