The PartyPoker Dutch Open is quickly shaping up to become the premier Dutch Poker Tournament. Tournament organizers have been hard at work announcing television deals and a long line up of professional poker players who will be taking part in the Dutch Open poker tournament. Even though the first Dutch Open will not take place for a couple of more weeks, many are beginning to speculate that this will be an ongoing event that will take place for many years to come. Many who follow the professional poker tournament circuit have come to realize that Dutch players have gained a unique position in the game, particularly in recent years. While they may not always share the same limelight as more well known poker celebrities, these players have consistently cashed in on major tournaments for years, giving them an impressive winning record that few seasoned veterans can match.
Because of the contributions that Dutch poker players make to the game as a whole, PartyPoker set out to celebrate these players by organizing a 'Dutch only' poker tournament that caters to the needs of professional poker players. Thus, the PartyPoker Dutch Open was born as the world's premier poker tournament that is open to Dutch players only.
In a recent press announcement, a PartyPoker spokesman said, "Dutch players are a major force in the poker world and this is a great way to showcase their talents. We're delighted to be sponsoring this tournament but we decided not to insist on orange felt on the table. After all, the orange and dark orange chips were the subject of a lot of debate at the WSOP. We're not sure if it is the favourite colour of poker players other than main event winner Jerry Yang at the moment, even if the player is Dutch!"
It is not yet known if the most famous Dutch poker player, Marcel "the singing Dutchman" Luske, will be in attendance. With or without Luske's poker expertise, the tournament has already signed on a number of Dutch poker professionals who are sure to make the tournament an engaging event.
