American democracy will once again be showcased for the world on September 15th as a variety of groups are already gearing up for massive demonstrations on that day in Washington, D.C.
Move America Forward, the nation's largest non-profit, non-partisan grassroots group that vociferously declares their support for Operation Iraqi Freedom and the American soldiers committed to that effort, will culminate their nationwide caravan with thousands of flag waving and placarded demonstrators making a visible statement of support for American efforts to defeat terrorism and introduce democracy to Iraq. The "Fight for Victory Tour" will set out from Carson City, Nevada on September 3rd and move to Sacramento and San Francisco and then travel from California across the heartland of the United States with a scheduled arrival date of September 14th in Washington where they will meet with members of Congress and conduct a press conference. The massive demonstrations on the 15th will draw bus loads of supporters from across America particularly from locations throughout the east coast.
Rallies in support of the troops are also scheduled for numerous cities across America beginning September 3rd as the Move America Forward tour proceeds to Washington to deliver their message in unequivocal terms. A variety of organizations that also support our troops will join in support of Move Forward America along their route and in Washington. Among those groups are Gathering of Eagles, Vets for Freedom, Free Republic,Protest Warriors, Eagles Up and OpposeReid.com.
In opposition to this showing of support for America's soldiers will be a demonstration by a group naming themselves Act Now To Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER). They have a host of sponsors such as Cindy Sheehan, National Council of Arab Americans, Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, Iraq Veterans Against the War, International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu-Jamal and many others.

MAF is handling this Berklie issue all wrong. What should be done is instead of these meaningless demonstrations outide the recruiting office you should be swearing into the army all those who support the war.

The Iraq war started with Dick Cheney's $30 million retirement package from the Halliburton Corp. Remember he wasn't paid $30 million for doing a great job for his five years work. I believe Cheney was paid a $30 million dollar bribe to start the Iraq war when he quit Halliburton to join the 2000 Republican ticket as Bush's VP running mate. I also believe Halliburton board members and neo-cons convinced Cheney that toppling Sadam would be a "cake walk" and that all the true believers would be richly rewarded in oil money.

thanks manq. i cant get over how many times i have read pro OIF and OEF war groups pitting those involved in the anti-war movement as being AGAINST the troops. on the contrary, we are very pro-troops. we want our soldiers brought home, alive, and to be treated with dignity and respect once they arrive. "In opposition to this showing of support for American soldiers will be a demonstration by a group naming themselves Act Now to Stop War And End Racism"... the demonstration being lead by A.N.S.W.E.R. is not in fact in opposition to the support of our troops, but rather is in opposition to the continuation of bloodshed. One can support the troops and simultaneously oppose the current war. Those of us marching with A.N.S.W.E.R. will be doing both of these.

What a bunch of propaganda BS! "The nation's largest grassroots, pro-troop organization," you must be on drugs! You neo-cons need to stop the spin.
Supporting the war and supporting the troops are two different things. America knows the war is false and has led to more than a million Iraqi deaths, millions more displaced, over 3600 American lives, 450Billion, and countless other BS. Supporting the troops means you want them brought home alive, and not fighting daily gun battles for control over oil and permanent military bases from which we rally additional wars in the Middle East. I guess I misread this article. I suppose I assumed Cindy would not support more killing of innocent Iraqi women and children, because the GWB clan mislead the citizens in the reason he ordered the invasion of Iraq; namely that Iraq was about to switch to the Euro which was going to hurt the USA in World Trade because we import the largest amount and have little of equal value to export, except tobacco. Oops, reread it I missed the "in opposition". The good news is the rightful opposition with the counter protest.
I imagine if Cindy Sheehan is sponsoring the event, so is Code Pink. It was sad to me that on May 1, 2006 the peace demonstrations involving Code Pink, Iraqi Vets Against the War, and others were overlooked by mainstream media and less attended than demos for illegal immigrants "Day Without Immigrants" that was reported to bring a million people to the streets of LA alone. Sad to me, because of the La Razas' selfishness about their needs to be allowed to break laws was more important to them, then an illegal war costing lives and increasing our indebtness to China to pay for it. Thanks for sharing this good news.
