Fonda Fair in Fulton and Montgomery Counties in New York
The fair runs from 8AM to 11PM each day. The midway opens at 11AM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $2 for children. $12 wristbands can be purchased for unlimited rides all day.
There is a great variety of farm animals to check out when you're looking to fill some spare time at the fair. They are housed in the barns and easy to view. There are all kinds of birds and poultry. The rabbits are my favorite. Goats and sheep are funny to watch. The cows are always a crowd pleaser. You can even watch them being milked. You can also walk through the horse area and ask the owners if you can give them a pat.
Sixty bicycles will be given away during the fair so make sure to pick up your ticket.
There are many antiques to view. The antique cars probably attract the biggest audience. I find the antique engines especially interesting because you get to see how objects you use everyday used to look and work.
You will also find your usual garden and craft competitions. These are worth a quick look but kids don't seem to be very impressed. The huge flower display is a pretty sight.
There are several bands performing in the Kane Entertainment Center on the fairgrounds from varying times in the evening until closing. On Tuesday, Peaceful Country is performing. Whitewater will play on Wednesday. Permagrin will take the stage on Thursday. Friday will feature Dr. Kwazy Tunes. Country Express and Carmine Dio will perform on Saturday and Sunday respectively. Finally, Flame will finish things up on Monday.
Horse shows seem to run continuously throughout the fair. Even if you're not a big horseback riding fan, the giant draft horse competitions are worth checking out.
