Home Instead Senior Care offers a service to keep your loved ones in their homes. There are offices located throughout the United States, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Taiwan, Spain, and the United Kingdom. I actually am working at one of the agencies and have been for the past 5 years. Our goal is to help your loved ones with day-to-day activities in and around there home.
So before you put your loved one into an assisted living facility, or nursing home, see what Home Instead can provide.
Home Instead offer caregivers for as little as 2 hours a day right up to full 24 hour care. We do not do medical services but offer companionship, respite care, prepare meals and serve them, assist with walking etc., medication reminders, arrange appointments, just to name a few of the companionship services.
The Home Helper services include light housework, laundry, changing and making the bed, preparing future meals, doing the shopping and picking up prescriptions, escorting to doctor's visits, and any other transportation services that are needed.
In the 5 years I have worked at the local one in New Port Richey, I have mainly worked with the elderly that have Alzheimer's. I have worked 12 hour day and night shifts but recently cut my hours down to 2-5 hour shifts.
We are not supposed to get involved with our clients but after being with them for months and years, I have to say that my clients are like my own family.
Before we begin employment with Home Instead we are thoroughly screened, insured and bonded, and we do have 2 training guides and 1 safety guide that we have to read and do a worksheet on. We do not have medical training but sometimes you will be lucky enough to get a caregiver that has worked at an A.L.F. and gone through various courses like me.
Sometime the client will get a caregiver that they are not compatible with but Home Instead state that you will be matched to someone with your preference.
This is not a free service and can work out every expensive over time. However, knowing your loved one is in their home and having the care they need, can be priceless.
