With life becoming more hectic and more adults returning to college while juggling careers, homes, and families they may find it difficult to find the time, as well as the peace and quiet, to study. Fortunately, most college campuses have places where a person who needs to study can find solitude for reading their assignments and preparing for examinations.Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma is no exception. It offers several options for students looking for a study spot. The most obvious is, of course, the library. The library provides a quiet environment that is extremely conducive to learning. Any student will find it to be a perfect place to read and do homework. The Cameron University library is located to the north of Nance Boyer hall on campus. The library is open Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. During Intersession the library is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Cameron Theater, Art Department, and Speech and Music Departments surround a quiet courtyard complete with sculpture and fountain. Students can often be seen there, sitting on one of the concrete steps going over their class work, reading, and sometimes just relaxing and listening to the soothing music of the water rushing from the fountain.
Cameron University's Student Union is located to the east of Nance Boyer hall. The bookstore is located here, as well as a dining area, which serves breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 10:15 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. There are several areas within the student union that are suitable for the person looking for a place to study. There is a designated quiet area reserved especially for studying.
The student union also offers two, covered patio areas, one in front of the union and one in the back, which have tables and benches. The coverings make these places a cool place to take a break on a warm day.
