In these days of "super-sized" and "mega", with "super-sized fries, and drinks, to "mega" malls, stores, and churches, is it any wonder why in America, we've "super-sized" government, leaving us one hell of a "mega", "super-sized" debt. 9 trillion and growing by the second. To just get a perspective of how bad it is, if we took all the Social Security and Medicare surplus funds and paid down our national debt, we would still owe over 5 trillion.
Can we afford to continue to "mega" splurge on government spending with such debt? Would perhaps more people have income to spend, with a even greater US dollar currency values, to promote even more growth without such a debt? Would more people be on health insurance plans, rather than the welfare rolls, if our government was to down-size.
Many say the little growth or any growth is better than none, even if minuscule. I would agree. Yet I often wonder what America would be and look like on a trimmed down diet of spending to a Constitutional "healthy" sized government.
Ms. Liberty, would be looking slim and sweet. Uncle Sam would not have the appearance of an old relic from the past, still heralding and experimenting with the last century 's, stone-aged thinking, of failed "horrorshow" despotisms and socialistic bumbling states of desperation.
In 2008, will we finally revolve "full circle" back to the concepts of liberty and freedom that our founding fathers established in the Constitution of the United States, at it's birth. These ideas of freedom, undoubtedly birthed the greatest country the world has ever seen.
With a Ron Paul presidency, it could just happen. I doubt will all start wearing wigs, hiked-up pants, and buckle front shoes, but we could finally have a "Constitutional-sized" federal government, a healthy dollar, that's worth and buys more. Stronger individuals and families, and a secured and restored "Bill of Rights". A fair for all tax system, with no paramilitary agency, gunning you down just to collect a buck, that is usually wasted anyway.
