While neatsfoot oil is generally used to bring luster and sheen to leather products such as horse riding saddles, leather purses, belts, and leather shoes, there are many other handy ways you can use neatsfoot oil in your home. Some of the handy ways that you can use neatsfoot oil in the home include health and beauty aids, caring for your leather shoes, and even in some kitchen applications.

During my childhood, my father made leather crafts such as saddles and belts. These home uses for neatsfoot oil were handed down to me by my mom and my dad.

Neatsfoot oil is one of the best health and beauty substances a person can use. Because of its natural viscosity, neatsfoot oil is one of the best substances you can use to treat and prevent dry skin on your hands, feet, and over your entire body. Rub a few small dabs of neatsfoot oil over dry areas of your body, including your elbows, hands, legs, and the heels of your feet. Thoroughly rub the neatsfoot oil so that it penetrates deeply inside the layers of your skin for the best effect. Allow the neatsfoot oil to dry thoroughly on your hands. Wear socks on your feet to allow the neatsfoot oil to penetrate deeply to treat severe cases of dry feet

Neatsfoot oil is also a perfect substitute for harsh chemical hair conditioners. Before your normal hair washing routine, comb neatsfoot oil throughout your hair. Be sure that you comb the neatsfoot oil through your hair from the root of the hair follicle to the tip of the hair follicle. Allow the neatsfoot oil to penetrate the hair for five minutes and rinse away with hot water. Wash your hair as you normally would. Your hair will have a thick appearance, and a shine of which you can be proud.

While neatsfoot oil works well to shine your leather goods such as baseball gloves, shoes, belts, and equine saddle, neatsfoot oil is also an excellent method for weatherproofing your leather shoes. Rub neatsfoot oil on your shoes using a soft buffing cloth before going out in rainy or wintry weather conditions. You can rest assured that your shoes will remain dry.
