Before I lived in Las Vegas, I'd pretty much always had lived someplace where you got your little green plastic bin to put newspapers and plastic bottles and soup cans to put out with the weekly trash pick-up. There was the occasional stint in a neighborhood or town that didn't have a recycling program besides some dumpsters in some parking lot labeled Paper and Plastic. But those places were always easily accessible and easy to find. Not here in Las Vegas.

When I got here I found out that the apartment complex that I live in doesn't have a recycling program of any kind. And I'm not even sure if the city as a whole has any kind of recycling pick-up. So I hopped on the internet and did a quick search. Usually for things like this you come across a website with a listing of places - nothing. I finally found some obscure reference to Republic Services Incorporated. They're actually one of the garbage haulers in town. Which makes sense as they also have the capacity to recycle stuff they take in.

For being such a large company, it was extremely difficult to find anything on the actual recycling program besides one little reference on some back page of a website about a drop off location.

While looking for the drop off location in North Las Vegas (not very convenient if you live in the south or west of town, or in Henderson), I actually passed the place because it wasn't very easy to see - just another old building in an industrial park. I had to stop at the guard gate where he pointed me to the bins. I pulled up to the bins and separated all the different items into the bins. The bins themselves were separated into all of the different categories. I was quite happy with the actual location. It's too bad that it's so difficult to find any information to physically get there.

So if you're in Las Vegas and need to find a drop off location for your recycling - you can take it to Republic Services Incorporated at 315 W. Cheyenne Ave. in North Las Vegas.
