You would never guess that The Old Mill Restaurant in Pigeon Forge, TN is actually one of the area's newer attractions. The massive crowds waiting outside to eat and the nostalgic décor make the restaurant look as if it has been operating in the Smoky Mountains area for a hundred years. Located in an actual old mill, The Old Mill Restaurant offers classic country cooking, affordable prices, huge portions, and an excellent ambiance.

The Old Mill Restaurant menu is exactly what you would expect your basic Smoky Mountains restaurant menu to be: country cooking. Dishes such as country ham, country fried steak, southern style catfish, meatloaf, chicken pot pie, and chicken and dumplin's are all available as entrees. All entrees are served with the basic side dishes of mashed potatoes, green beans, and a salad. You also get corn chowder, homemade fritters, and a dessert, all for one price. The food is heavy, a little greasy, and very delicious. If you're looking for a light dinner, The Old Mill is probably not your best choice, though they do offer some items such as a fruit plate, grilled veggies, and some grilled entrees. Prices for dinner are in the $15-$20 range, which for the amount of food you get, is actually a bargain. If you have a refrigerator and microwave where you are staying for your trip, plan to take some leftovers back with you.

Breakfast is also served at The Old Mill. At breakfast you can enjoy bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, eggs, grits, and of course, biscuits and gravy. Be prepare to eat well at breakfast at the The Old Mill since your only choices are simply the Old Mill Breakfast, or the Old Mill Lighter Breakfast, both of which include plenty of food.

If you are lucky enough to get seated by a window at The Old Mill you will be treated to a gorgeous view of the river and waterfall as it streams down beside the restaurant. Ducks and geese swim up and down stream and although you are actually directly off of the main strip in downtown Pigeon Forge, it feels as if you are in a quaint mountain retreat.
