There is a lot of buzz going on about the newest way to communicate to your friends, family and co-workers. I am talking about VoIP, or Voice Over IP. Basically what VoIP consists of is instead of using telephone wires to talk over the phone, you will be using your Internet connection. There are many reasons why people are starting to choose this type of telephone service. But what are they? Why is everyone so excited about this new communication service? Well, there are many reasons why millions of Americans are starting to say goodbye to telephone wires, and hello to broadband Internet.
The main reason why so many people are making a step towards this type of telephone provider is because you will be saving a ton of money. And honestly, this is a huge benefit that nearly everyone would enjoy. But how are they saving so much money? The main reason why switching to VoIP will save you money is because you aren't using a PSTN line, or a Packet-Switched Telephone Network.
When you are talking on a standard telephone, you are using a PSTN line, which charges you per minute you are on the line. And if you are talking overseas, than the rates skyrocket. However, when you use ADSL, which is what you are using when talking on VoIP, it has been shown that using a VoIP can save you up to 40% on local calls and 90% on international calls. This is a lot of money.
Another huge reason why people are so excited about VoIP, is because you get so many features that you never thought you could possible have on your telephone. This is possible because VoIP uses the internet as its main backbone, and whenever your "spine" is outfitted with so many various technologies, of course you're going to get some of the coolest and innovative features imaginable.
Yet, there is another reason why VoIP is so popular. It's because it is more than just talking, you can actually communicate on several levels with this service.
