In a statement released Friday, House Republican Whip Roy Blunt chastised the Democratic Majority in the House of Representatives for failing to act in accordance with House rules and miring yet another effort to pass legislation concerning the rights and privileges of illegal immigrants in the United States.

"The ability of this Congress to fulfill its responsibilities to the American people depends on the presence of clear rules and an open, ordered debate -- and a fair hand in protecting both. The majority did not observe those rules last night, in the process reversing the will of this chamber on a measure that would've made sure those in this country illegally aren't afforded federal benefits at the expense of legal, hard-working Americans," said Blunt.

Blunt went on to say that the Majority had apologized to the Republicans and he believed they were sincere, but he was still disturbed by their seeming lack of will to rectify the matter before the August recess begins.

Earlier in the year, the Democrats and many Republicans in the Congress deliberately acted to strike down proposed legislation to create immigration reform. Many Americans are clamoring for such reform, and President Bush has made it what is probably going to be his final domestic priority matter before he leaves office in January of 2009.

In the absence of any federal standard concerning illegal immigrants' employment and government entitlements, state and local governments have felt much more pressure to pass their own legislation, and some have begun doing so.

Recently, Arizona passed state laws requiring the suspension of business licenses to any employers who hire illegal immigrants, even if they legitimately were ignorant of their illegal status. This puts more pressure on business owners to carefully check the records of potential employees.

Most citizens in Arizona were very pleased with the new law, although a Latino activist group leader called it an act of racism and urged the Latino community in that state to boycott the Super Bowl when it comes to Glendale in February of 2008.

I'll keep that in mind, Bruno. My sources did not make that clear to me.

You need to check your facts on the law passed in Arizona. Business licenses are not required to be suspended until a second offense of "knowingly" or "willfully" hiring illegal aliens. If the business has gone through the proper checks, including Basic Pilot, they are covered.

Traitors!!!!! Social Security for 6 billion people! So what is the plan now? After the world loots us into oblivion do we all move onto the next nation that still has resources? We need to get some honest men and women back in control of The United States of America. We need to get back to the basics that, "We the People", still hold dear. The rest of the world may want to do the same. When they see somewhere that is doing things they like they need to adopt them in their own countries. That is the only way we are going to become one.

Most of Congress that voted yes to pass the bill were Democrats and most that voted no were Republicans. The Democrats that voted no were from states with high populations of border trespassers. There already is a guest worker program for farm labor. Going back years ago, when that labor came into the USA to work for substandard wages "picking lettuce" many stayed when their special visa or permit expired. Or they became "illegal immigrants". I think the problem increased when Republican Reagen gave a general amnesty to those people, the Viet Nam "boat people", Chinese smuggled into the country in port containers and so on. The feeling, as one website proudly proclaims: they can't deport us all. The La Razas are already removing US flags and replacing them with Mexican ones proclaiming victory.
