Express Jet Airlines is one of the newest low cost carriers to fly the skies of the United States. While offering low cost flights, the airline has a focus on serving cities that aren't major airline hubs, therefore offering somewhat unique service. The airline features a comfortable ride in new aircraft, and offers reasonable in-flight entertainment, XM satellite radio.

While, the aircraft that Express Jet flies are relatively new, they are somewhat smaller than what would be expected on mainline airlines. Express Jet operates Embraer aircraft, notably the ERJ series. These planes hold a maximum of 50 passengers; fly at close to 600 miles per hour, and up to 2,000 miles. Seats in the aircraft are four abreast, two on each side of the aisle. The seats are leather, but defiantly are not the most comfortable in the airline industry.

Like nearly every airline in the world, you do have the ability to close the window shade if you so desire, and each seat comes with a tray table, attached to the seat sitting in front of you. The overhead baggage bins aren't overly spacious, but as long as your items fit in the test bin at check-in, space can be found to accommodate your item. Each seat comes with the ability to listen to XM satellite radio. While this sounds like a small add-on, it could make the difference in your two hour flight in the small aircraft. Just remember, don't leave home without your headphones, because onboard, they can be a little bit pricey for cheap headphones.

The idea behind a low cost carrier is exactly that, low cost. Therefore, anywhere costs can be cut becomes an advantage to the airline. The less an airline can charge for a ticket usually means that you should expect less service on the flight. Express Jet does offer some in-flight services; just don't expect to get a five course dinner on your flight from Kansas City to Austin.

I book reservations for express jet and I can tell you with absolute certainty that we do not charge more for childrens fares when traveling with an adult. Everyone gets the same fare. If the child is an unaccompanied minor, there is an additional fee of $50 each way. Since I am an employee, I will not comment on how hard we try to provide friendly and professional customer service, I will let you all be the judge for yourself, but did want to clear up the pricing accusation. I will say, however, that I enjoy my job mostly because of the fantastic customer feedback that we get every single day, all day long. Happy customers make those phone calls much more enjoyable

I love this Airline! It's the best thing out there. Its a small jet, feels like your getting on a VIP jet ... felt like a Rock star for a minute. The crew was supper cool, going to and from the both distinations. I got a free drink both times lol. ONe off a man and one off a girl... I don't know, I was glowing and perhaps they saw it. Perhaps I made thier day, I don't know :). Any way...the price is worth it! I personally do not like to bother with connecting flights... I end up spending more on time and simply stopping to buy something during the wait, you know how it is when you'e waiting and all you see are bars an stuff to eat, read... blah blah. I would fly this Air line again and again. personally I wouldn't have it any other way. I still have yet to interact with them when things go south, however something tell me it may not go as smooth as the flights they offer.

We recently booked a flight to San Diego. Without contacting us (my husband found out about this quite by accident), our flight was cancelled and we were assigned to a later flight. We originally booked and were "confirmed" on an 8:00 am flight, Express Jet changed it to 3:00 pm. Not only were our original flight cancelled and our flight times rearranged without our knowledge, when my husband checked the flight they reassigned us to, the fares were lower but we were not reimbursed the difference. Because of Express Jet's total disregard to customer service, we have had to cancel many reservations and rearrange our vacations plans.

I flew them from Tulsa to San Diego. Loved the nonstop flight and I was comfortable. I would suggest they "polish" their flight attendant staff. The one I had seemed like she didn't really speak English and didnt really have an air of authority. It can make some passengers feel uneasy-that lack of professional polish. I have some knowledge that they dont pay too well. That would explain the staff they are able to get to do the hard work for very little. However, with respect to flight staff, I feel they need to pay more to ensure safetly and professionalism onboard.

Flew Express Jet from OKC to SMF round trip. First time to fly with them and will do it again. Took a bit longer than a larger jet but the trade off was worth it. Very friendly flight crew, gate and ticket counter people were also great and very helpful. In fact the whole experience was great. While on a stop in ABQ the pilot of our flight found out another pilot was on board and invited me up to the flight deck. I told him it looks like a video game up here. Things I flew had gauges not TV tubes. After both pilots had a lot of questions about the Bell Cobra helicopter (AH-1G). If you ask me if I would fly Express Jet again my answer is YES. For those of you who flew them once and did not like it for one thing or another, hey give them a second chance, after all we all have off days.

I will never fly Express Jet. My family (myself, husband, 2 kids) were going to book a flight to the East Coast because we were supposed to be a part of my father's wedding party. Strapped for cash we decided to go with Xjet when we saw how reasonable the adult fare seemed to be. However, they wanted to charge us more than 3 times that amount for each childs ticket! I called customer service to see if there was any way to get the childrens tickets any cheaper. I explained the reason for our flight and our financial status and was told by two people that it was not possible.

I commute by myself between Tulsa and San Antonio. The direct flight saves me 3 to 4 hours each way. The single right seat means no jostling by a stranger. Being it's a smaller jet; I can easily hand off my carry-on and have it stowed safely in the cargo area. My carry-on is at my feet as I exit the plane. All for a 30 dollar premium over the lowest cost multiple connector nightmares. Outstanding convenience and well worth the money. There, I just made Christmas arrangements and selected my seat each way. Love it.

They are really bad in customer service/check in. Lost the plane because of the clerk at the check-in stand. Low cost (you get what you pay for). Will never fly with them again.

I just booked a very reasonably priced nonstop flight to New Orleans on this airline. Thanks for the reviews and comments. I hope it's a good experience and I can post my own review when I get back.

I just booked flights for myself and 2 children and I was nervous at first about the size of the plane. But after doing more research I think I can anticipate a great experience at a fraction of the cost, $300 less than SW.
