Not many people take care of their eyes they way they should. If they did they might put optometrists out of business for a while. Why does our eyesight deteriorate? Your eyesight will eventually fade as you get older, but you can take plenty of measures to fight for it as long as you want. This is not to say you will have perfect eyesight the day you die, but at least you put forth your best effort. What does it take to keep you eyesight in tact? This entails a variety of aspects in your everyday life. What you drink, eat and do greatly affect your sight. Sitting too long at a computer, which entails staring into that monitor is the second worst thing you can do. Your body's overall health will greatly attribute to your sight as well. Start today and keep the sight you have now for as long as you can.
What you drink
Did you know that what you drink will cause your eyesight to diminish or get better? Yeah, yeah! Carrot juice is okay, but any fruit or vegetable juice that is high in vitamins A, D & E will contribute greatly to your sight. Do not forget calcium either. You do not have to drink milk, as there is a vitamin for that, especially if you are allergic to milk. Calcium is what makes the white of your eyes whiter.
Coffee, teas and sodas will all be detrimental to your sight as they have caffeine in them. Caffeine is the number one culprit to your better health. It will keep your body from absorbing all the nutrients your body needs from what you drink and eat. If you have to have caffeine, keep it to a minimum.
What you eat
Yes, your eating habits will also affect your sight. Eating too much will not only put on the extra pounds, but will also put just enough fat around your eye muscles. This will cause your eyes to work harder and wear them out quicker.
Eating too little will cause your body to start "eating" at your muscles and pretty much do the same thing. You will feel more sluggish, too. You will not be able to read as long, or stay focused on that task at hand either. Have your doctor put you a plan to eat healthy or go to a dietician for better advise.
