In my first article How to Make Well-Baby Visits Less Stressful I explained the purpose of well-baby visits, and gave some tips on making the well-baby visits less stressful, I followed that article up with a second article entitled What to Expect During Your Child's One-Month Well-Baby Visit where I went into detail on what to expect during the one-month checkup. In this article I will be talking about what to expect at the two-month well-baby visit.

By this doctor visit you have been to the doctor at least once for the one-month well-baby visit, and you might have been in more than that for a two-week well-baby visit or for another issue that has come up, so going to the doctor isn't as daunting as it was the first time, and you know more of what to expect. You know that you will need to bring diapers, wipes, a blanket, whatever you need to feed your child, and your insurance card.

As in your previous visit, your baby will be weighed and measured, and the nurse will document the measurements on your baby's growth chart so that the doctor can make sure your baby is growing as they should. You can also expect them to check your baby's eyesight and hearing at this time.

More than likely your baby will be receiving their two-month vaccinations at this visit, unless you and your doctor have decided to delay vaccinations or not to vaccinate at all, if your baby is ill or running a fever their vaccinations will be postponed as well. The vaccinations you can expect at two-months are Hepatitis B, Pneumococcal Vaccine, DTaP, Hib, and Polio. Make sure that you have Baby Tylenol at home in case your child is fussy after receiving their vaccines. Some doctors even suggest that you give them a dose of Baby Tylenol before the visit so check with your doctor ahead of time to see if you should.
