The City of Berkeley's Green Home Expo Aug. 5th offers advice and information about free services and programs to help the public save energy and money, get informed about climate change, and help reduce global carbon footprints.

The free event is being held from noon to 5 p.m. at Berkeley Marina at 205 University Avenue in Berkeley, CA.

Clear out your medicine cabinets by participating in the Green Pharmacy Pollution Prevention Campaign while you're there. Bring in unused and expired medicines in for environmentally sound disposal. Over-the-counter supplements and non-controlled prescriptions will be accepted. Fill out the Unused and Disposed Medicine Registry first at teleosis.org/pdf/UnusedMedRegistry.pdf, bring in original containers, and mark out personal information on the bottles.

There will be special guest speakers at the Expo, free water-efficient equipment, low-cost attic insulation, storm water control, and other information on resource conservation.

You'll meet vendors offering the latest in renewable and solar energy technologies, energy efficiency, sustainable building materals, non-toxic products, and information on sustainable living.

Take the AC transit and save on gas.

Home builders have jumped on the bandwagon by offering various styles of sustainable materials to build residences like Conventional, Rounded, Earth-Sheltered, and Organic. Materials include earth, straw, wood, stone, manufactured, and lightweight concrete. Functions include Residential, Dog House, Studio, Greenhouse, Garage, and Cold Storage.
