Ever wonder about how titles came about? And why? Have you given up concluding by deductive reasoning, logic or best of them all, faith? Wonder no more, religious foes or God fearers, these answers are as logical and deductive as can be.

There are three main titles when referring to a person's religious, or non-religious, take on the world: Agnostic, Religious, and Atheist. Oftentimes, one thinks that each title must be separated, with a clear defining line, as to not overlap because that would be too "messy and convoluted". The idea that Agnostics are anti-religious is a misguided one in the least.

Every religion is Agnostic, technically speaking. There are Agnostic Christians, Agnostic Catholics, Agnostic Jews, Agnostic Muslims, and the list goes on. Any time one peeks in The Book to seek an answer they do not already know, that would be considered not having all the information needed to make the decision, whatever the decision may be.

Interestingly enough, all an Agnostic is doing is giving a title to the act of "not knowing". Be that an act of not knowing enough information via facts and hard steadfast scientific discovery or feelings they get after reading the fables from their chosen options of Bibles.

In addition, not only can you have two of the titles, you can have all three. Technically, the three titles, Agnostic, Religious, and Atheist are bundled together more times than you may think. Take Buddhism for example. People who practice Buddhism do not deem Buddha as a God. Rather, he is just simply an Awakened One; someone who has awakened from the "sleep of ignorance" on their own. Therefore, Buddhists do not believe in a God per se, making this practice Atheist.

A Buddhist strives toward complete bodily awakening from the world around them. In short, Buddhism is about getting in touch with your self. While Buddhism is primarily about your spirit on Earth, it is still deemed a major world religion. Therefore, Buddhists are in addition, Religious.

Great article! I've always found that aspect of Buddhism fascinating-the compatibility of atheism with belief in a metaphysical reality.
